Stablecoin market cap fell to $312B in June, its largest monthly drop since TerraUSD, while tokenized equity volumes surged 145% to a record $3.86B.

  • Stablecoin market capitalization fell 2.39% to $312B in June, its first month-end decline in five months. The $7.70B contraction was the largest since TerraUSD's collapse in May 2022, coinciding with broad weakness across major digital assets reflected in ETF outflows during the month. Despite the market cap decline, stablecoin market dominance rose to 14.7% from 12.4% in May, driven by the broader fall in prices of major digital assets.
  • Three stablecoins lost parity in June, each for different reasons. apxUSD, the first dividend-backed synthetic stablecoin collateralized primarily by Strategy's STRC preferred shares, slipped to $0.90-$0.93 on June 4 as STRC fell below $80, directly weakening the protocol's reserve NAV. MIM first broke its peg on June 8, falling to $0.80 before sliding to $0.50 by June 24 as liquidations drained DEX liquidity. msUSD collapsed approximately 71% to $0.29 on June 20 after proof-of-reserves provider Accountable terminated its service agreement, triggering a bank run that nearly depleted the protocol's redemption reserves.
  • Total tokenized asset market capitalization rose 1.75% to $30.1B in June, the highest end-of-month level on record for real-world assets on-chain. Tokenized Treasuries led the gain, expanding 4.89% to $17.0B and now representing 56.5% of the total market; Circle's USYC overtook BlackRock's BUIDL as the largest tokenized fund asset, reaching a record $3.11B. Public Equities surged 6.64% to a record $1.53B, accounting for 5.07% of the tokenized asset market and extending the sector's run to fifteen consecutive months of growth.
  • On-chain trading volumes for tokenized equities surged 145% to a record $3.86B in June, driven by the SpaceX (SPCX) IPO. Tokenized versions of SPCX recorded $1.19B in volume across the month; Backpack Securities' SPCX was the most active with $1.08B, followed by xStocks' SPCXx at $852M. xStocks instruments accounted for the largest share of on-chain equity trading at $1.59B overall, while Backpack and Ondo Stocks recorded monthly volumes of $1.42B and $815M respectively.
  • Stablecoin trading volumes on centralized exchanges rose 10.8% to $981B in June, the first monthly increase in five months. USDT maintained its 72.6% share of stablecoin trading volume, with USDC at 22.3% and World Liberty Financial USD (USD1) at 2.04%.
  • Ripple's RLUSD saw its XRPL supply overtake Ethereum for the first time, rising 32.6% to $814M; Japan's Financial Services Agency approved RLUSD as an electronic payment instrument under the Payment Services Act on June 24, opening access to both institutional and retail customers via SBI VC Trade's VCTRADE platform.
  • June's stablecoin data captured a sharp reversal from the record-setting trajectory of recent months. Total stablecoin market capitalization fell 2.39% to $312B, its first month-end decline in five months and its largest monthly contraction since TerraUSD's collapse in May 2022. The $7.70B drop coincided with broad weakness across major digital assets; ETF outflows during the month reflected the same pressure. On centralized exchanges, however, stablecoin trading volumes rose 10.8% to $981B; the first monthly increase in five months, pointing to continued underlying utility despite the market cap retreat.

June was also defined by a cluster of depeg events that stressed the sector in a way not seen in several years. apxUSD slipped to $0.90-$0.93 on June 4 as its primary collateral, Strategy's STRC preferred shares, fell below $80. MIM first broke parity on June 8 before declining to $0.50 by June 24 as liquidations drained DEX liquidity. msUSD collapsed approximately 71% to $0.29 on June 20 after its proof-of-reserves provider terminated its service agreement; on-chain data showed redemption reserves had been nearly depleted, with roughly $4,000 remaining against 74 million tokens in circulation.

Against that backdrop, the tokenization side of the market continued its structural expansion. Total tokenized real-world asset market capitalization rose to a record $30.1B, led by Tokenized Treasuries at $17.0B. Tokenized equities delivered the month's most striking result: on-chain trading volumes surged 145% to a record $3.86B, catalysed by the SpaceX (SPCX) IPO. Tokenized SPCX recorded $1.19B in volume across the month; Backpack Securities accounted for $1.08B of that total.
