Combined spot and derivatives trading volumes on centralized exchanges rose 13.0% to $4.99T in June, ending a five-month declining streak and recording the first monthly increase since January. Spot volumes climbed 15.3% to $1.11T (their highest level since March), while derivatives volumes increased 12.1% to $3.88T; the rebound coincided with a broad digital asset drawdown, with Bitcoin falling 20.5% to $58.8k amid heightened reflexivity concerns around Strategy's STRC preferred shares, with the increase in spot market share suggesting meaningful accumulation at those price levels.
Gate was the strongest performer among spot exchanges in June, with trading volumes rising 50.8% to $66.1B; its spot market share increased by 1.55% to 5.95%, the largest gain among all exchanges tracked and its highest level since October 2025. This pushed Gate back into third place among centralized exchanges by spot volume, while Gate also held a 9.20% share of total open interest and a 9.52% share of derivatives volumes.
Monthly trading volume for RWA perpetual instruments on centralized crypto exchanges surged 57.0% to a record $311B in June, driven by the SpaceX IPO and sustained retail interest in trading traditional financial assets on crypto exchanges. Binance led the category with a 78.6% market share ($245B); OKX and Gate followed with market shares of 10.7% and 3.90%, recording $33.3B and $12.1B in trading volume respectively.
Derivatives market share declined to 77.7% from 78.2% in May; the first monthly drop in five months, as spot markets rebounded more strongly than derivatives across the board. Binance and OKX recorded the highest derivatives market share increases in June, rising 1.18% and 0.43% to 41.1% and 17.2% respectively, while Gate's derivatives market share increased 0.06% to 9.52%.
Spot trading volumes on decentralized exchanges rose 9.10% to $195B in June, the first increase in five months, though DEX spot market share fell to 14.9% as CEX volumes recovered faster. DEX futures volumes rose 13.2% to $676B; the second consecutive monthly increase; with DEX futures market share reaching 14.9%, its highest level since February.
